Etiopathy is a mechanical manual therapy. From the Greek aïtia “cause” and pathos “pathology”. As its name indicates, this
therapy style aims to identify the causes of pathologies and treat them. To achieve this, the profession draws on the work of the
greatest doctors of ancient times such as Hippocrates and Ambroise Paré, the precursors of manipulative medicine.
The etiopathic process allows the therapist to root out the causes of a pathology, to identify whether it is a mechanical challenge
and to treat it (if it is one). The goal of any Etiopath is to deliver a lasting or definitive cure, not to mask the pain or relieve it
briefly.
Many chronic pathologies (old or recent) can be treated by Etiopathy. For example, migraines patients may have been suffering
from for years. As well as digestive, urinary, gynecological and joint disorders.
During a consultation, the therapist identifies whether the cause can be treated by Etiopathy based on the clinical signs and
structural disturbances presented by the patient. Their diagnosis considers any previous examination results (imaging, biology,
etc.). If an etiopathic treatment is not suitable, the practitioner will redirect the patient to the appropriate medical branch.
